Our Amazing Retreat

by Miriam Leah Silver

This year’s student retreat was better than ever!  Early Sunday morning, August 26, we all met in the TDSD library, and it was there that the fun began!  Keeping with the Student Council theme of  games, we played Twister, and went on a scavenger hunt at Target, where we not only had to find things that fit into categories such as sensitive, patriotic, happy, and pessimistic, but we also had to find four teachers who were dressed up as… well, not themselves. We got to try out our aim at laser tag and  then packed ourselves into vans and went on the road to the cabins near Lake Texoma.

We got there, settled in and continued with food and more board games while getting to know each other, and reacquainting with the friends that we missed during summer break.  Later into the night, we played Capture the Flag, had a bonfire and kumzitz, and generally enjoyed being together.  Eventually, everyone went to sleep. We woke up to daven and eat a delicious brunch.  Along the trek back to Dallas, we stopped for a “surprise” final activity at Whirlyball before going home.

Thank you to Hila Hoffman, Hila Moyal, Rachel Offenberg, Rabbi Kosowsky, Mrs. Rich and everyone else who made this trip possible.  Looking forward to a great school year!
