SUKKOS Activities Planned

Our students are invited to celebrate Sukkos with some of their teachers at the following times:

Monday, October 5 at 7 PM in the Goldfeder Sukkah – 6307 Prestoncrest Lane for all students and staff

Tuesday, October 6 from 10:30 AM until noon for Mrs. Hurwitz’s Navi 3 and 4 classes in the Hurwitz Sukkah – 6323 Prestoncrest Lane

Thursday, October 8 from 8:30 PM until 9:45 PM in the Rosenblatt Sukkah – 6039 Prestoncrest Lane for all students. Students are invited to sing, learn about Hoshana Rabba, shmooze, and nosh.

We encourage all students to participate. Have a wonderful Yom Tov – Moadim l’Simcha.

Mazel Tov to Mesorah’s Sixth Graduating Class

On June, 14, 2009, Mesorah held its sixth graduation ceremony. Shani Rosenberg earned the title of Valedictorian and Avigail Ruderman earned the title of Salutatorian. The Keser Shaim Tov (Crown of a Good Name) Award went to Hila Moyal and the Ahavas Yisroel (Love of Fellow Jew) Award went to Liba Schwartz. Every girl in the class is planning to atttend seminary in Israel next year. We wish the girls and their families Mazel Tov and best wishes.

Mesorah Wins Mock Trial Competition

We congratulate seniors Avigail Ruderman and Liba Schwartz; juniors: Chana Greene and Brocha Klein; sophomores: Daniella Lashak, Natali Elfenbein and Aviva Skaist; and freshmen: Sarah Abrams, Shyffi Levin, Sivan Naor and Ela Wilson on their victory in the Mock Trial Competition. The trial took place in Criminal Court this past Wednesday against Yavneh Academy.

Our Mock Trial Team met on Friday after school during the entire school year to prepare for the competition. The team practiced and prepared, and spent many hours with community member and volunteer, Mr. Warren Abrams, formulating their arguments and gathering their evidence. We appreciate the hard work and dedication of the entire team. A special thank you to Mr. Abrams for his time and for his commitment to our school.

October – Busy Month at Mesorah

Interspered between all of the Yomim Tovim, our students had many activities this month. On Erev Yom Kippur, the girls were inspired at a Yom Iyun on the topic of friendship by Rabbi Yogi Robkin and Rabbi Yehudah Abrams.

Festivities during Sukkos, even though there was no school, included dinner in the Klein’s Sukkah for some of Mrs. Klein’s Halacha students and Simchos Bais Hashoeva in the Rich Sukkah sponsored by GO and in the Abrams Sukkah with Mrs. Esti Abrams. Shemini Atzeres afternoon, the girls were hosted by Mrs. Suri Rosenblatt.

It was back to school for a few days and then PSAT’s on Wednesday, October 29. Our girls look forward to their first Shabbaton of the year this Shabbos, Parshas Noach.

Exciting Succos Event

All Mesorah students are invited to a Simchas Bais Hashoaivah this Sunday night, October 19, 7:45 p.m. until 9:15 p.m. at the home Rabbi Yehudah and Mrs. Esti Abrams, 5731 Charlestown. The Abrams would like to celebrate Succos with simcha, fun and games, and friends. They look forward to seeing everyone there.

Meet the Teachers Night – September 8

This coming Monday, from 7 – 9 p.m., Mesorah parents will have the amazing opportunity to meet our faculty. We will begin with Mincha promptly at 7 p.m., followed at 7:15 p.m. by some informative presentations. Afterward, teachers will distribute course information, discuss expectations, and answer general questions.

To be sure we will have a Minyan for Mincha, please reply to this post if you are planning to come. If you know that you will not be able to attend, please let us know so that we can get the information to you.

Location: Please enter through IMC building (to the left of the LENDING.COM building). Take the elevator down to the ground floor and go to the right as you exit the elevator. We’re at the end of the hall in suite B190.

At Least Once a Month: FEED YOUR BRAIN – NOURISH YOUR SOUL – Eat Lunch with Girlfriends

Each new moon is a gift reminding us to look at ourselves and our world in a new light, signaling us to create new opportunities and experience new aspects of our lives.

You are invited to attend a kosher Rosh Chodesh luncheon, every month at Mesorah, and join an incredible group of gifted and talented high school students, together with the women of the Mesorah Graduate Division and visitors from the community.

You will be treated to soup and salad, an inspiring Dvar Torah from one of the Mesorah High School students, and a stimulating presentation on careers for women. Our speakers will be women in business, science, law, medicine, the arts, academia, politics and philanthropy and they will offer insight into our lives as well as their own.

In a program moderated by Judy Safern, these special guests will share what inspired them as girls, what moves them as women, and what drives them as professionals. What did they hope to achieve, do they ever use algebra in real life, who’s their favorite fictional character, what’s their philanthropic or philosophical dream, what’s their signature ingredient in food and life, what are they learning and working on now?
Mark your calendars for Wednesday, May 7, 2008, when Mrs. Sorochel Broderick, Behavioral Therapist and Entrepreneur, will join us.

CORONATION: Don’t miss tonight’s performance!

Our first performance of CORONATION: The Story of Esther was a huge success. You won’t want to miss the opportunity to see this fabulous play. Tickets are available for tonight, February 11 at 7:00 PM. If you would like to purchase tickets, please call 214-420-1990, ext. 103 or email srich@mesorahhighschool.org. The play will be held in the Zale/Fields Theater, Greenhill School, 4141 Spring Valley Rd. and is for women and girls (ages 6 and up).
