Condolences to Allan Schwartz on the loss of his Mother

Our deepest sympathy to former Mesorah parent, Allan Schwartz on the loss of his mother, Sara Schwartz. The funeral was held last Friday, March 5, in Panama.

Allan, father of Erin (Class of ‘06) and Liba (Class of ‘09), and his siblings will be sitting Shiva in Panama until Tuesday morning. Tuesday afternoon through Thursday morning they will be sitting Shiva here in Dallas at Allan and Carol’s home, 5979 Meletio Lane.

Mincha/Maariv-Tuesday and Wednesday at 6:15 PM

Shacharis-Wednesday and Thursday at 6:40 AM

May they be comforted among the mourners of Zion and Jerusalem.

Dr. David Luchins Speaks on Israel/US Relations

Our student body was privileged to hear inspiring and informative words from Dr. David Luchins, chair of the Political Science Department of Touro College. Dr. Luchins serves the Jewish community in many capacities, including as Senior Vice President of the Orthodox Union. He served on the staff of United States Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan for twenty years as special assistant, senior assistant and ultimately senior advisor.

Dr. Luchins combined humor with a storehouse of knowledge on the polictics of the Middle East to produce a lecture which left our students with a much clearer picture of the history of Arab/Israel relations and how that relates to the United States. Our students appreciated the opportunity to learn from such an accomplished man.

The bris for the baby boy of Rabbi and Mrs. Tzvi Lewis will be held, im yirtze Hashem, on Monday, Feb. 15, at 7:30 AM at Congregation Ohr HaTorah. May the Lewis’ merit to raise him to a life of Torah, chuppah and good deeds and may the bris be held in its proper time. Mazel Tov!

MAZEL TOV to Rabbi and Mrs. Lewis on the birth of a baby boy!

A big mazel tov to Rabbi and Mrs. Tzvi Lewis on the birth of their new son. Mrs. Lewis is in her second year teaching Chumash and Hebrew language at Mesorah.

The Shalom Zachor will be held at their home this Friday night, February 12. We wish the Lewis and Lakier families much nachas from the baby and all of their wonderful children and grandchildren.

Congratulations to Scholarship Raffle winners. Grand prize winners, Dr. and Mrs. Ed Makler, will receive a $5000 gift certificate to Bachendorfs Fine Jewelers. Second prize winners, Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Secunda of Silver Spring, MD (parents of Rachel – Class of ‘04), will be treated to a 4 day/ 3 night trip to Honolulu, Hawaii.
