Mesorah Graduation ’08 saw three wonderful young ladies reach this important milestone. Yet the ceremony contained enough emotion for a much larger class.

Mrs. Carol Aaron, Chair of the Jewish Federation of Dallas, addressed the graduates with very supportive and admiring words.  Rabbi Chaim Nosson Segal, Director of Community Development for Torah Umesorah, the guest speaker, encouraged the graduates to be proud of their Judaism, to spread that pride, and never to forget that we are different from the other nations.

“I learned to master moments, instead of letting moments master me,” said Yael Glazer, daughter of Richard and Shelley (Hoffman) Glazer.  “If you don’t stand for something, you will fall for everything.”  Yael, this year’s valedictorian and an exemplary young lady, gained an appreciation for her place in the world as a Jew and as a person.  She described how Headmaster Rabbi Avraham Zev Kosowsky guides the girls in a caring, involved way, though never telling them what to do, only making suggestions.

At Mesorah, “I discovered how to fit my life into the Torah, instead of fitting the Torah into my life.”  So said Johanna Corcos, daughter of Yves and Dena Corcos, recipient of the Personal Achievement Award.  Johanna proudly spoke of how her parent’s support and the warm, accepting faculty allowed her to explore Judaism in such a way that she now feels that she understands her place in the world as a Torah observant Jewish woman.

The crown of a good name, Kesser Shem Tov, is something for which we all strive. This award, received by graduate Hila Hoffman, daughter of David and Hagit Hoffman, goes to the graduate who gives of herself for the betterment of others. Hila, student council co-president, passionately related that at Mesorah she created her own mold, not having to fit into an existing one.  Her determination to better herself enhanced by understanding teachers, administrators and friends, allowed Hila to make the most of all of her years at Mesorah.

All three of our graduates will by attending seminaries in Israel next year to solidify the foundations laid at Mesorah. They will participate in intensive Judaic studies after which they each plan to return to pursue college educations.

We are very proud of our graduates.
