Things are about to get moving in a big way at our new campus! Here’s what’s on the horizon for the coming week and how you can stay in the loop.
Permitting Progress
We’re almost there! Our building permits are expected to be ready within the next few days. The final step is Fire Department approval for our gates — this is simply an access detail, not a question of permission.
Construction Updates
- Interior Demo – Work begins next week! The first step will be exposing structural areas so our team can determine if any design changes are needed. This includes the exterior door off the dining room and the pass-through door from the offices into the administrative area.
- Fencing – All fence posts are in place, and panels will be installed next week.
- Storm Shelter – Approved and scheduled to begin construction this Monday.
We’re entering an exciting phase — demolition, fencing, and storm shelter work all starting in the same week! Stay tuned for photos and updates as our vision for Mesorah’s new home continues to take shape.

Exciting Update: FEMA Security Grant Moves Forward at Mesorah’s New Campus
Mesorah High School for Girls is proud to share an important milestone in enhancing the safety and security of our new campus. We have been awarded a FEMA Security Grant to install surveillance cameras, access control systems, and protective security fencing.
This week, we received official notification that our EHP (Environmental and Historic Preservation) review has been completed—a necessary step in the federal grant process. With this approval, we are moving to the next phase: gathering and scoring vendor bids. Bids will be evaluated based on various criteria, including cost, vendor experience, and insurance and liability coverage.
Our goal is to create a safe and secure environment for our students, teachers, and families. To date, Mesorah has received $250,000 in dedicated security grants to help launch this crucial phase of the campus project.
If you are interested in making a dedicated gift to help further strengthen campus security, please contact Rabbi Udman at [email protected].
Together, we are building a campus—and a future—where every student can thrive.

Building Momentum: Mesorah’s New Campus Takes the Next Step Forward
We’re excited to share more good news as we continue making steady progress on Mesorah High School for Girls’ future home!
1. Permitting Process in Motion
We are now three weeks into the official permit process with the City of Richardson. If all continues on schedule, we hope to receive full approval by mid-May—a significant milestone that will pave the way for construction to begin.
2. Contractor Selection Nearing Completion
After an extensive review process involving five talented firms, we have narrowed it down to our final two contractors. Both are in the last stages of interviews, and we anticipate awarding the final contract by mid-May, with construction projected to begin before June.
3. Repurposing for Progress
Thanks to the sale of surplus hospital beds and medical equipment left at the new site, we’ve raised nearly $10,000—a meaningful boost toward our continued preparations.
We are so grateful to our dedicated community and generous supporters who make every step forward possible. Stay tuned for more updates as we get ready to turn the old nursing school into the new Mesorah High School for Girls!
Exciting Progress at Mesorah High School’s New Campus!
Mesorah High School for Girls is thrilled to share some exciting updates as we progress with our new campus project! The journey toward building a beautiful, safe, and functional space for our students is well underway—and we’re grateful for the community’s continued support.
1. Exterior Plans Approved by City of Richardson
We proudly announce that the City of Richardson has officially approved our exterior plans! This green light includes some incredible features prioritizing safety and security for our students and staff. Among them is an above-ground storm shelter, a critical addition that reflects our commitment to preparedness and protection. We’re also adding electronic automotive gates and over 500 feet of fencing, ensuring a secure and welcoming environment for all who enter the Mesorah campus.
2. Hospital Equipment for Sale
As part of our preparations, we’re clearing out items left on-site at the new campus—including hospital and emergency room beds. (The prior owner was The Chicago School, a non-profit university focused on professional degrees, including nursing and psychology fields.) These beds are now available for sale. If you or someone you know is interested, please get in touch with Jonathon Marcelino at 310-990-0270 for more information. It’s a great opportunity to repurpose high-quality equipment while supporting our transition.
3. Community Contractors Lend a Hand
Behind every brick and blueprint, a dedicated team is making it all happen. We are especially grateful to several contractors from our community who have stepped up to assist us as we prepare for construction. Their generosity, expertise, and partnership have significantly brought this dream to life, and we couldn’t be more thankful.
4. Thoughtfully Designed Outdoor Spaces
We’re also excited about the outdoor areas being planned for student use. The new campus will feature a covered canopy space of 800 square feet, ideal for shaded breaks or learning outside. Just next to it is a 1,700-square-foot area—the perfect spot for students to relax, socialize, and enjoy spending time together. This 2,500-square-foot outdoor space will enhance the daily experience at Mesorah, providing comfort, community, and a fresh-air atmosphere throughout the school day.
Stay tuned for more updates as Mesorah’s new campus continues to take shape—we’re just getting started!
