This past week, Mesorah High School for Girls showcased its very own “Shark Tank” event. The presentation was the culmination of a unit in Miss Shuvi Rich’s Financial Math class, where students explored job selection, business operations, and the ins and outs of running and working for a company. To put their new knowledge into practice, the girls were challenged to create their own companies. Each team presented their innovative concepts to a panel of judges in true “Shark Tank” style, making for an unforgettable experience.

H2O² (How to O’tomatically H2O Your Plants)

For busy individuals and businesses who struggle with watering their plants, the H2O² offers a seamless solution. Designed to blend into any setting, this unique device appears as an unassuming rock and doubles as a dehumidifier. It collects water from the air and releases it one to two times per week, automatically hydrating nearby plants. The presentation featured an edible garden model crafted from cookies, delighting everyone in attendance and leaving them with a sweet treat and a memorable impression.
Foldable Mirror

Naomi and Shira presented the innovative Foldable Mirror, a portable full-length mirror with built-in lighting around its edge. Designed for convenience, it folds for easy storage, making it especially useful for dormitory living, camps, or anyone on the go. To complement their pitch, they created a stylish website showcasing their product’s benefits and features. Their presentation also included the distribution of mini suitcases, perfectly capturing the product’s travel-friendly theme.
Acai to Go!

Addressing the need for quick and nutritious breakfast options in smaller communities, Acai to Go! is a mobile food truck specializing in fresh acai bowls. The trio’s vision included traveling to different states to bring this healthy offering directly to customers. Their presentation featured freshly prepared acai bowls, giving attendees a taste of the refreshing product they plan to serve on their future food truck tours.
The Sourdough Helper

Recognizing the time and dedication needed for sourdough bread-making, this group introduced The Sourdough Helper—a tool designed to streamline and simplify the process. Their slideshow highlighted the device’s functionality, along with a roadmap of potential retail locations. A prototype demonstrated the practical benefits of their product, reflecting the group’s skills in both design and business planning.
Flag-For-Shabbos

Flag-For-Shabbos, is a service dedicated to assisting Shabbos-observant Jews in avoiding melacha (work prohibited on Shabbos). The product includes a bright yellow flag and illustrated inserts depicting common Shabbos challenges. When a need arises, users place an appropriate insert in the flag to alert a non-Jewish employee who roams the district looking for such flags, who then provides assistance. Esti and Chaya’s presentation featured a compelling skit demonstrating their product in action, followed by a detailed slideshow with statistics and service details. They concluded by distributing hot potato kugel adorned with a small flag bearing their logo—a fitting touch that left a lasting impression on the judges.
Special Guest and Praise from Miss Rich
The event featured a special guest judge, Ms. Kristine Bates, whose thoughtful questions and insightful feedback brought an authentic “Shark Tank” feel to the presentations. Her familiarity with the format was evident, adding depth and professionalism to the judging process.
Miss Rich, reflecting on the students’ efforts, shared, “The girls had so much fun working on their projects, and they all did such a great job! I am very proud of them all.”
And the Winner Is…
Congratulations to Flag-For-Shabbos for taking the top spot! The judges were thoroughly impressed with the thoughtful and culturally sensitive concept, strong presentation, and creative use of visuals and humor.
This year’s “Shark Tank” event exemplified the intelligence, creativity, and hard work of Mesorah High School’s students. Each team’s innovation demonstrated that with the right blend of imagination and determination, anything is possible. Well done to all our participants! ■
