Building confidence, cultivating compassion ─ from Mesorah to a meaningful life in Jerusalem, Shira Lewenstein (née Michaels) has been on a path of growth, dedication, and service.
A proud graduate of the Class of 2019, Shira reflects fondly on her time at Mesorah as a period of foundational support and encouragement that shaped her academic and personal journey.
After graduating, Shira attended Meohr Bais Yaakov Seminary in Jerusalem, earning her Teaching Certificate. She then received a BA in Liberal Arts with a Minor in Psychology and Special Education from Charter Oak College and an MSW from Yeshiva University’s Wurzweiler School of Social Work. Today, she is making a meaningful impact as a social worker in private practice.
Shira and her husband, Yehuda, were married in February 2022 and have lived in Givat HaMivtar, Israel, since then. Their home is filled with joy and light thanks to their one-year-old daughter, Ayelet Ora.
Looking back, Shira credits Mesorah with instilling in her a deep sense of self-worth and resilience. “The individual care and the unconditional support I received from the teachers and the administration gave me confidence in myself, which has carried me throughout my academic journey,” she shares.
We are so proud of Shira and the inspiring path she has chosen. May she continue to go mechayil el chayil—from strength to strength! ■
