Thursday Night: A Warm Welcome
The excitement was palpable as students arrived and mingled with peers from various cities. The evening commenced with an introduction to the Shabbaton’s theme, emphasizing the importance of our ancestral heritage. Icebreaker games facilitated new friendships, and the Esther Miller Bais Yaakov (EMBY) students showcased their impressive artwork and presentations, reflecting the meticulous planning and effort invested by the St. Louis community.
Friday: Building Connections
The day began with heartfelt davening, followed by an inspiring speech from Rabbi Miller. He spoke about harnessing the inner strength inherited from our forefathers to achieve greatness. A meaningful project explored the significance of our names, highlighting how they empower us.
A roller-skating excursion provided a fun-filled opportunity to bond, as laughter and shared experiences brought everyone closer. The anticipation for Shabbos grew as preparations began for the sacred day ahead.
Mrs. Perlman, daughter of Rebbetzin Greenblatt—the visionary behind EMBY and the Shabbaton—shared touching anecdotes. Despite Rebbetzin Greenblatt’s absence due to illness, her legacy of dedication and leadership was profoundly felt.
Shabbos: Spiritual Elevation and Unity
Friday Night:
After Mincha and Kabbalos Shabbos, the esteemed Rabbi Menachem Nissel, visiting from Eretz Yisrael, captivated the audience with profound insights delivered in an engaging manner. The Shabbos meal, organized by grade, saw the Dallas contingent merging into one big family, exemplifying camaraderie and joy.
A panel discussion on role models featured esteemed educators, including Dallas’s own Shuvi Rich, whose relatable and inspiring words resonated deeply. The evening concluded with an uplifting oneg and kumzitz, fostering a sense of communal harmony.
Shabbos Day:
The morning’s kiddush was followed by Rabbi Perlman’s enlightening discourse on the Mesorah of Torah Shebaal Peh and its relevance across generations. During the meal, mixed-school seating encouraged new connections, though the Dallas group cherished their close-knit bond.
A dynamic Q&A session with Rabbi Nissel addressed thought-provoking questions, offering wisdom and clarity. Subsequent speakers included Rabbi Tendler and Mrs. Raskas, who shared her poignant journey of conversion, reminding students of the privilege of a Bais Yaakov education.

Sunday: Farewell and Reflections
The final day began with davening, followed by Rabbi Nissel’s vivid depiction of Mashiach’s arrival. He encouraged students to highlight “כי לישועתך קיווינו כל היום” in their siddurim, fostering a heartfelt yearning for redemption.
A wrap-up activity reinforced the weekend’s lessons, and during breakfast, students received signed copies of Rabbi Nissel’s sefer on tefillah, “Rigshei Lev.” As farewells were exchanged, emotions ran high, marking the end of a transformative experience.
The Dallas group seized the remaining time to explore local attractions, indulging in ice cream and visiting a St. Louis grocery store, adding a sweet conclusion to their journey.
