The Mesorah Shabbaton in St. Louis for high school girls from all over the country began today. It was more than just a weekend away—it became a journey defined by kindness, friendship, and a memorable Kiddush Hashem.
It all started when Mesorah’s own Esti Michaels brought a bag of chocolates to give to the flight attendants. What might have seemed like a small gesture was the beginning of an unforgettable connection. The Mesorah girls—Shuvi Rich, teacher and chaperone, Esti Michaels, Elisheva Sionit, Chayala Heimowitz, Yael Noble, Adina Heimowitz, Rivkie Craven, Tali Grossman, Dena Klein, and Yael Cohen—quickly won the hearts of the airline crew.
As the chocolates were handed out, smiles spread, and conversations sparked. The flight attendants not only took notice of the girls’ thoughtfulness but also their friendliness and warmth. The Mesorah students embodied true derech eretz, making a positive impression on everyone they met.
By the time the flight landed in St. Louis, the attendants, now entirely charmed by the girls, had decided to return the favor. They handed over a surprise bag of goodies, pretzels, key chains, and other goodies to eat and use during the Shabbaton as a token of appreciation. The students had no idea their small kindness would yield such a delightful reward.
The story didn’t end at the terminal, though. When the girls arrived in St. Louis, they brought more than snacks and luggage; they brought a living example of what it means to make a Kiddush Hashem. Their behavior—marked by generosity, respect, and genuine care—set the tone for an uplifting and inspiring weekend ahead. ■
