This week, the senior class at Mesorah High School for Girls welcomed Terah Culp, MA, LPC-S, a clinical therapist from Jewish Family Service of Greater Dallas, for a meaningful lunchtime activity centered on self-reflection and personal growth.
Gathered in a relaxed setting, the seniors enjoyed pizza and candidly conversed with Ms. Culp. This was her first opportunity to connect with the entire senior class, learning about their diverse interests, struggles, and aspirations as they approach the next chapter of their lives.

Following lunch, Ms. Culp introduced an inspiring art activity that challenged the students to reflect on their transformation over the past four years. Using Model Magic modeling clay, each student crafted a butterfly—a symbol of growth and change. One side of their butterfly represented their freshman selves, capturing their experiences and emotions as they entered high school. The other side reflected their current selves, showcasing how they’ve evolved into the confident seniors they are today.
“The butterfly activity allowed the girls to pause and appreciate how far they’ve come,” Ms. Culp shared. “It was a wonderful way for them to take a break from their busy schedules and honor their growth.”
The seniors embraced the creative challenge, producing unique and meaningful butterflies that captured their journeys. Several students took the initiative to mount their creations onto a poster board, planning to display them in the senior locker room as a collective celebration of their shared experiences.
This reflective activity not only provided a moment of relaxation but also encouraged the seniors to look back with pride and look forward with excitement. As they prepare to transition from high school, these butterflies will serve as a colorful reminder of their resilience, self-discovery, and the support they’ve found within the Mesorah community.
Ms. Culp’s visit was a valuable opportunity for the seniors to connect, reflect, and celebrate their growth—together, as a class. ■
