As we return to school following the beautiful and uplifting month of Tishrei, I want to take a moment to welcome our students back—with hearts full and spirits renewed.
The month of Tishrei is unlike any other. It is a time steeped in kedushah, when every day seems to carry a special energy—Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, Sukkos, and Simchas Torah together create an atmosphere where holiness feels almost tangible. We are surrounded by mitzvos, by tefillah, by song, by family, and by a heightened awareness of Hashem’s presence. It’s not “regular life.” It’s a time when our neshamos are awakened and nourished.
But now, we enter Cheshvan, often called Mar Cheshvan—a month with no holidays, no festive days, no immediate bursts of inspiration. Yet, this is precisely its beauty. Cheshvan allows us to take all that we absorbed in Tishrei—the feelings, the commitments, the closeness to Hashem—and bring them into the rhythm of everyday life.
Tishrei was our booster shot—a spiritual infusion meant to strengthen us for the months ahead. Now is the time to unpack what we gathered, to translate inspiration into action, and to let our renewed connection to Hashem guide us through the quiet consistency of daily growth.
At Mesorah, we see this transition reflected in our students—girls who return not only with memories of Yom Tov, but with a readiness to live those lessons each day. Whether in the classroom, through acts of kindness, or in tefillah, the light of Tishrei continues to shine within them.
May this Cheshvan be a month of quiet strength, steady growth, and lasting simcha as we carry forward the inspiration of the Yamim Noraim into the everyday beauty of Mesorah life.
