From the Desk of Mrs. Batya Epstein, Judaic Studies Principal

Dear Parents,

We have enjoyed another busy, full week of learning and growing together.

One highlight of this week was our Derech Eretz and Achrayus Yom Iyun. We extend a huge thank you to Mrs. Rachel Adlerstein who taught us the sources (with source sheets!), and the importance of Derech Eretz, and to Mrs. Nechama Katz who spoke about what Achrayus (taking responsibility for ourselves and our actions) should look like. Both were quoted the next day by students who took their messages to heart, and recognized the importance and relevance of these middos in our lives. Activities related to these themes and a delicious lunch were the icing on the cake of this inspiring morning!

Our Chumash classes are continuing to learn Sefer Shmos and to comprehend the experience of B’nai Yisrael in Mitzrayim. It is a treat to walk into these classrooms and listen to our girls working together to understand Torah, challenging themselves to learn independently, and asking insightful questions. One of our Chumash students connected a word in Rashi to something she had learned from Megillas Esther – what nachas!

On Thursday, our Chessed heads, Rivkie Craven, Miriam Mernick, and Bracha Quinn, set our Chessed program in motion, and we could hear the excitement in the room of our girls who want to help and give to others!

Thank you to Mrs. Batyah Brander, a noted mechaneches, who has taught Torah for over 30 years, and currently teaches at Machon Los Angeles and for the LINK Kollel, for speaking to our girls last Friday. She beautifully shared the message to be proud of who we are as b’nos Yisrael and the opportunity we have to make a kiddush Hashem in His world. Thank you to Mrs. Sarah Mernick for bringing Mrs. Brander to Mesorah!
